Interview: Architect Bijulal Babu
ഒരു കെട്ടിടത്തിന്റെ പണിതീരുന്നതോടെ അവസാനിക്കുന്നതല്ല ആര്ക്കിടെക്ടും ക്ലയന്റും തമ്മിലുള്ള ബന്ധം. അതു ജീവിതകാലം മുഴുവന് നിലനില്ക്കണം. കാരണം നല്ല ബന്ധത്തിനെ നല്ലൊരു കെട്ടിടം പണിതുയര്ത്താനാവു. ആര്ക്കിടെക്ട് ബിജുലാല് ബാബുവിന്റേതാണ് ഈ അഭിപ്രായം.
കൊല്ലം ടി കെ എം എന്ജിനീയറിങ്ങ് കോളേജില് നിന്നും 1994-ല് ബി ആര്ക്ക് നേടിയ ഇദ്ദേഹം ജോസ് കെ മാത്യു, ടി.എം സിറിയക്ക് എന്നിവര്ക്കൊപ്പം പരിശീലനം പൂര്ത്തിയാക്കി. ഇപ്പോള് ഏറ്റുമാനൂരില് സ്വന്തം സ്ഥാപനം നടത്തുന്നു.
എന്തൊക്കെ പ്രോജക്ടുകളാണ് ചെയ്യുന്നത്?
റെസിഡന്ഷ്യല്, കമേഴ്സ്യല്, ഐ.ടി പ്രോജക്ടുകള്, കൂടാതെ ഇന്റീരിയര് ഡിസൈനിംഗും.
വീടു പണിയുമ്പോള് കൂടുതല് ആളുകള്ക്കും പറ്റുന്ന അബദ്ധം എന്താണ്?
കൂടുതല് പേരും എന്നു പറയാനാവില്ല, എന്നാല് ചില ആളുകള് കോണ്ട്രാക്ടര്മാരെ വീടുപണിയാന് ഏല്പ്പിക്കാറുണ്ട്. ഇങ്ങനെ വരുമ്പോള് പലപ്പോഴും ഒരിടത്ത് ഉപയോഗിച്ച പ്ളാനും ടെക്നിക്ക്സുമൊക്കെയാവും മറ്റൊരു സ്ഥലത്തും ഉപയോഗിക്കുക. ഇത് ക്ലയന്റ് അറിയണമെന്നില്ല. ആളുകള് വ്യത്യസ്തരായിരിക്കുന്നതു പോലെ തന്നെ അവരുടെ ആവശ്യങ്ങളും പലതാണ്. അപ്പോള് ഒരാള്ക്കു പണിയുന്ന വീട് മറ്റൊരാള്ക്കു ശരിയാവണമെന്നില്ല.
വീടിന്റെ ലിന്റല് വാര്ക്കുമ്പോള് എന്തൊക്കെ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കണം?
ലിന്റല് എപ്പോഴും ഒരേ ലെവലില് വാര്ക്കണം.മുറികള്ക്ക് പൊക്ക വ്യത്യാസം ഉണ്ടാവും. എന്നാല് ഇതനുസരിച്ച് ലിന്റലിന്റെ ലെവലില് വ്യത്യാസം വരരുത്. ഫ്ലാറ്റ് റൂഫാണ് ചെയ്യുന്നതെങ്കില് അതനുസരിച്ച് ലിന്റലിന്റെ കനം കൂട്ടണം. പിന്നെ ഫ്ലാറ്റ് റൂഫിനേക്കാള് എപ്പോഴും നല്ലത് സ്ലോപ്പ് റൂഫ് തന്നെയാണ്.
മഴക്കാലത്ത് പുറം ഭിത്തികള് പൂപ്പല് പിടിക്കാതിരിക്കാന് എന്തു ചെയ്യണം?
പലപ്പോഴും നമ്മുടെ അശ്രദ്ധ കൊണ്ടാണ് പൂപ്പല് പിടിക്കുന്നത്. ലാഭം നോക്കി ഇന്റീരിയര് പുട്ടിതന്നെ പുറത്തും ഉപയോഗിക്കും. ഇത് പൂപ്പല് പിടിച്ചു നാശമാകുന്നതിനും അധിക ചെലവിനും മാത്രമേ സഹായിക്കൂ. ആന്റി ഫങ്കല് വെതര് കോട്ട് പെയിന്റുകള് അടിച്ചാല് പൂപ്പല് പിടിക്കില്ല. ഇന്നിപ്പോള് നിരവധി നല്ല കമ്പനികളുടെ പെയിന്റുകള് ലഭ്യമാണ്. സാധാരണ ഡിസ്റ്റംബര് അടിക്കുന്നതിന്റെ ഇരട്ടി ചെലവു വന്നെന്നിരിക്കും എങ്കിലും ഭിത്തിയുടെ സംരക്ഷണത്തിന് ഇതാണ് നല്ലത്. ഈടു നില്ക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും.
വീടു പണിയുമ്പോള് വാസ്തുവിന് എത്രത്തോളം പ്രാധാന്യം നല്കണം?
വീടു വയ്ക്കുമ്പോള് വാസ്തുവിന്റെ അടിസ്ഥാന തത്ത്വങ്ങള് നോക്കുന്നതു കൊണ്ട് പ്രശ്നമൊന്നുമില്ല. പുതിയ ആശയങ്ങളും വാസ്തുവും ഒന്നിക്കുന്നതാവും നല്ലത്.
ഏതെങ്കിലും ആര്ക്കിടെക്റ്റിന്റെ വര്ക്കിനോട് ഇഷ്ടം തോന്നിയിട്ടുണ്ടോ?
യൂജിന് പണ്ടാലയുടെ വര്ക്കുകള് വളരെ ഇഷ്ടമാണ്.
ക്ലയന്റ് വീടുപണിയുടെ എല്ലാ വശങ്ങളും മനസ്സിലാക്കി ആര്ക്കിടെക്ടിനെ സമീപിക്കുന്നതാണോ നല്ലത്?
കുറച്ചൊക്കെ മനസ്സിലാക്കുന്നത് നല്ലതു തന്നെ. എന്നാല് മാഗസിനുകള് മുഴുവന് പഠിച്ചു വരുന്നവര് പലപ്പോഴും അതേ സ്റ്റൈല് വീടുകള് തന്നെയാണ് ആവശ്യപ്പെടുന്നത്. ഇത് ശരിയല്ല. എല്ലാവരും സ്വന്തം വീടാണ് പണിയേണ്ടത്. മറ്റൊരാള് പണിത വീടല്ല.

My house is almost 30 years old and there are 2-3 leakings on roof and a crack on the wall. Carpet area of the construction is around 1100sq. ft and is not built based on any architectural advice. My feeling is that with a minimum maintanance, this will get another enhanced life span of 20 more years. As per your opinion, whether it is advisable to demolish this house or renovate with minimal changes? Is there any methodologies to rectify the leakage of the concrete roofing? Kinldy help me with your valuable advise.
